using this instrument since a high-speed drill is unable to create tapping motion. To examine the convenience of a 1-step drill-tap, we measured the amount of time required for fixing 10 screws. In doing so, we recorded that a conventional 3-step and the new 2-step drills required 189 and 112 seconds, respectively. Although the total operative time did not change extensively, the use of this instrument can reduce the fatigue of the operator. Furthermore, the new 2-step drill facilitates operations during which a large number of screws are required, such as during cranioplasty for treating craniosynstosis. Presently, the resorbable system that makes use of an ultrasound can be fixed by 2-steps. However, this system requires expertise because the adjustment of the insertion is determined by the operator. Therefore, the resorbable system that employs a 3-step process is still mainstream. In conclusion, a 1-step drill-tap is convenient for fixing a resorbable screw.

Hemorrhagic Brain Metastases in a Patient with Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK)-Rearranged Invasive Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Lung
BACKGROUND Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) is a rare variant of adenocarcinoma of the lung. It frequently shows KRAS mutations, while ALK rearrangement is exceedingly rare. We present a case of ALK-rearranged IMA of the lung presenting with an unusual pattern of brain metastases, radiologically mimicking a cavernous angioma. CASE REPORT A 44-year-old non-smoker female was first diagnosed...
متن کاملMedullary hemorrhage that preceded the onset of multiple cavernous angiomas.
Medullary hemorrhage is rare, and the causative role of hypertension still remains controversial. Cavernous angioma and other vascular malformations have been reported to cause medullary hemorrhage. A 53-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for vertigo. Medullary hemorrhage and multiple small hypointense lesions were detected on T2-star weighted magnetic resonance imaging (T2*W MRI). One a...
متن کاملMedullary Hemorrhage after Ischemic Wallenberg's Syndrome in a Patient with Cavernous Angioma
BACKGROUND The main complication of cerebral cavernous angioma is hemorrhage. Ischemic stroke as a complication of cerebral cavernous angioma has rarely been described, and hemorrhage after ischemic Wallenberg's syndrome has not been reported before. CASE REPORT A 45-year-old woman presented with perioral numbness, hoarseness, dysphagia, and worsening of her previous sensory symptoms. The pat...

متن کاملFetal cavernous angioma--case report.
A neonate male who developed cavernous angioma was born with a severe intraventricular hemorrhage and intraparenchymal hemorrhage in the basal ganglia. magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large, non-enhanced hematoma that packed the lateral ventricle. Surgery on the 2nd day of life verified a cavernous angioma associated with minimal hemosiderin and gliosis. Fetal cavernous angiomas, unlike s...
